The Ohio BWC Drug Free Safety Program (DFSP) is a voluntary program developed to address workplace use and misuse of alcohol and other drugs. It is designed to help employers effectively prevent on-the-job injuries and illnesses by integrating drug free efforts into their overall workplace safety program. The Drug Free Safety Program can help employers achieve both long range safety and cost saving benefits.
As an incentive, employers participating in a Drug Free Safety Program may be eligible for a discount on their workers’ compensation premiums based upon the fulfillment of the requirements of the drug free program which they select. There are two levels of participation that employers can choose from: Advanced or Basic. In addition, a Comparable program option is also available but it does not provide a premium discount.
