Why New Hire Safety Training Matters

New workers face a much higher risk of injury in their first month on the job than experienced employees. They’re learning unfamiliar tasks, often hesitate to ask questions, and may bring habits from previous employers that don’t match your procedures. A structured safety onboarding program:

Introduces essential safety concepts from day one

Sets expectations before bad habits form

Reduces early-tenure injuries and turnover

Documents required training for OSHA and your clients

What Our New Employee Safety Orientation Covers

New Hire Orientation for Construction & Short-Service Employees

Construction crews change constantly, with new hires, temporary workers, and subcontractors arriving at every phase. We help contractors run a fast, consistent new hire orientation for construction sites, including site-specific orientations for each project. For utility and energy work, we can support short-service employee (SSE) programs that many clients require for workers with less than six months of experience. Many contractors also add OSHA 10-Hour training for new hires.

New Employee Safety Training FAQs

Still have questions? Call 330-677-4433

When should new employees receive safety training?

Before they start work, or before they’re exposed to a hazard. Many OSHA standards require training before an employee performs the task, such as hazard communication, PPE, and forklift operation.

A basic orientation usually takes one to four hours, plus job-specific training for each task. Higher-risk work needs more time and hands-on training before the employee works independently.

Yes. OSHA expects both the staffing agency and the host employer to make sure temporary workers are trained. The host employer typically provides the site-specific training.
